In this Photoshop text design tutorial you can learn how to make text look like stone. First you need to create a new document. for the sake of seeing the background I made it dull gray. I chose to go with 500px x 150px. Then you want to select a bold, block or stone looking typeface, such as Impact or Kelmscott, and type some text. When you start out it will look something like this:
Next you want to open the Layers pallet and select the " " in the bottom left hand corner (as shown to the right). After doing so a pull down menu will appear. Select Bevel and Emboss. A window will appear. The following is just preference, but I used the following adjustments. I set Style to "Inner Bevel", Technique is set to "Chisel Hard", Depth to about "300", Size from about "7" to "10", and Soften is at "0".
Now your text should look about like this:
Next select the " " again, but this time select "Pattern Overlay" and the box below should pop up. Select the pull down menu that is called "Pattern" and select satin, which should look like this:
After doing this your text should look a lot like stone, like this:
Thus concludes our Photoshop text design tutorial. I hope you enjoined this little trick and hope that you may be able to put it to good use.
